The tug of war between Inspector Fowler and DS Grim has only escalated at the Gasforth Police Station with the two factions trying to outdo each other, often with hysterical results.

A BBC crew is in town to make a documentary about real-life policing. Despite Fowler's initial disapproval, every one is trying to look their best for the camera.
Gasforth has a problem with drugs, and Grim plans on a rave at the old gasworks. Habib is dreading the fact that her sister is coming to stay, but she's in for a bigger surprise.
Patricia joins an environmentalist group to protest a by pass, but it becomes a cause of some embarrassment for Fowler especially as it will be his job to 'enforce the law'.
Grim and Fowler are the likely candidates for this year's promotion, but they usually go for family man. Suddenly Fowler is touched by a romantic mood and proposes to Patricia.
